Todd Foster
Todd was born to April Stevens and an unnamed father while April was a senior in high school. For reasons unknown (but probably stemming from an inability to properly care for a child), April gave Todd up for adoption. He was placed in an orphanage in Chicago where he remained for a few months until being adopted by a couple, the Fosters, from Boston.

Baby Todd moved to Boston with his new parents, and had a very happy childhood---until the age of seven. That's when Todd's adoptive mother was diagnosed with cancer, a disease to which she succumbed a year later. Todd's father sank into a deep depression, and started to withdraw. Working all the time to support Todd and himself, he virtually ignored Todd as he drank more and more. In many ways, Todd was forced to raise himself, and care for himself, due to his father's ignorance and long hours.

As his teenage years hit, Todd began to clash with his father more and more. The drinking had increased into verbal abuse. Suffering through years of his father's drinking and verbal berating, Todd moved out immediately after graduating high school.

With no money to attend college, Todd drifted for the next few years. Not much is known of his activities aside from the fact that he took business classes at a local Boston community college. Then, one day, Todd visited his father (they would see each other on rare occasions), and drunk, his father muttered how Todd was adopted.

This all came as a huge shock to Todd. Confronting his father while sober, he learned that he was adopted. Curious as to his past, Todd hitchhiked to the Chicago orphanage where was placed, and did some research to trace his birth certificate. Learning his mother was one April Stevens, Todd hitchhiked to her hometown where he got a job working in the local bookstore. Being in such a small town, Todd was able to learn a lot about his mother---including how she married a Jack Ewing, they divorced, and she left town to start a new life filled with riches in Dallas.

The thought of money made Todd salivate. Using the last of his funds, he traveled to Dallas. He did some more research, and learned a rough sketch of April's history---how she came to Dallas with a divorce settlement from Jack that gave her 50% of his income---meaning 5% of Ewing Oil at the time. How she sold that 5% to J.R. Ewing, gaining $100 million dollars, which she eventually invested and created even more wealth for herself, including an oil company, April Oil. How she married Bobby Ewing, and was killed on their honeymoon in Paris.

Todd learned that upon April's death, her entire estate and holdings went to her sister, Michelle---his aunt. Seeing this as his only opportunity for wealth, Todd approached Bobby Ewing, April's husband, about helping him get his mother's estate. Bobby politely declined to help, but struck up a friendship with Todd. Todd soon learned that April Oil, April's oil company that Michelle held, had just recently struck one of the biggest oil fields in the last ten years. He also overheard J.R. Ewing expressing an interest in the field, asking Bobby to use his pull with Michelle to get the field.

Todd knew J.R.'s reputation among town, and how he had certain "friends" in influential legal positions. Approaching J.R., Todd offered to GIVE him the April Oil fields, provided that J.R. use his legal influence to insure that Todd get April's estate should he sue Michelle. J.R. agreed, and used his pull to help Todd win the case---Todd won $57 million dollars and control of April Oil from Michelle.

It was around this time that Todd struck up a friendship with Karen Ewing, Bobby's daughter-in-law. Prior to forming an alliance with J.R., Todd saw Christopher as a possible resource, and his wife as a direct link to it. With ulterior motives, Todd befriended Karen, but ultimately ended up abandoning his plan because of genuine feelings of friendship. At the time, Christopher and Karen were separated because of Christopher having impregnated a stripper during a one-night stand. Eric Stone was constantly hanging around Karen, so Todd started to get suspicious. Observing an interaction with Eric and the stripper Christopher slept with, Todd decided to do some research. He seduced the stripper, Carla, and while she was asleep, snooped in her apartment, finding evidence that showed that Carla was being paid by Eric to break up Christopher and Karen---and the child was actually Eric's, not Christopher's! Todd confronted Eric with the tape, blackmailed him for some money, and then promptly exposed him in front of Christopher and Karen, reuniting the two and sending Eric for revenge.

J.R. soon contacted Todd with the information that Donna Dowling, running for mayor, was threatening to expose all of J.R.'s illegal influence in Dallas. J.R. informed Todd that if he was exposed, the means by which Todd gained his fortune would be exposed, and thus he would be in danger of losing it. Todd, now President of April Oil, agreed to go "inside" Donna's campaign and try to ruin it from the inside. After many devious tactics that worked, Todd let his moral side take over and decided to not take any further action to hurt Donna, whom he had grown to respect. He kept all this from J.R.

It was around this time that Bobby gave Todd 8% of Ewing Oil, as a token of friendship. J.R. informed Todd that he wanted the 8%, and would obtain it just as soon as he got a few things in order. Todd, not exactly thrilled with J.R.'s activities with Donna, grudgingly agreed. Soon after, J.R. gleefully revealed to Todd how he had paid someone to seduce Ray, Donna's fiancée, and was planning to use it to blackmail Ray for 8% of Ray's PetroTech stock, and then use it to ruin Donna's campaign by giving it to the press. Not wanting Donna to be ruined, Todd stole the tape and gave it to Ray. J.R. got wind of this, and in anger, used his influence to have most of April Oil's fields' shut down. Retaliating back, Todd sold the 8% of Ewing Oil to Sue Ellen. Ray ended up bailing Todd out of his jam when he GAVE Todd his 8% of PetroTech in thanks, and Todd's fields eventually reopened.

Todd continues to live in Dallas today, running April Oil, where it can be guaranteed that his life will continue to intersect with the Ewings.
