Upstairs, Pam took a deep breath and walked into Miss Ellie's bedroom. It was time. She had to tell her what was going on with Bobby. But how was she going to take it? She had just lost Clayton, and now to face the trauma of a missing son...

Ellie was hanging up the phone just as Pam walked into the room. She gave a small smile upon seeing her daughter-in-law. There was nothing behind it, not the love that Pam was used to seeing.

"Hi," Pam said.

"That was Gary," Ellie began. "He and Valene are going to be flying out with the twins."

"I'm glad he's going to be here."

"Where's Bobby?" Ellie asked.

"Miss Ellie, I need you to sit down. We have to talk. You really don't need to hear this right now, you know I have loved you like my own mother, and I would give anything to not have to tell you something that will cause you more pain."

"Please," Ellie said gently. "Just tell me the truth. Where's Bobby?"

Tears welled up in Pam's eyes. She felt like she had spent the last year crying. "I don't know. I don't know. I don't know where he is."

Ellie's stoicism remained, but Pam was sure she could see a tear forming in the corner of her eye. "Have you heard from him at all?"

"No. We had a disagreement the other night, before……before everything happened. I haven't spoken with him since and neither has J.R. or anyone."

"We need to find him," Ellie said again. Her voice did not waver. Pam was awestruck. How did this woman survive?

"I'm going to find him."

"We're going to find him."

Pam just looked at her mother-in-law. "You're right Miss Ellie we will find him and Bobby will be just fine. He's resourceful and strong - like Jock was. He's been in tough places before and he knows how to take care of himself."

"Thank you Pamela, you're right. He is Jock's son - the Ewing men are strong. I will be fine when Bobby is found. But we need to find him. We need to do everything we can. Does the family know?"

"Ray, Donna, J.R., and Christopher…that's all."

"They all need to know," Ellie remained unshaken. "Jack will help. Sue Ellen will help. We all will. We need to stay together."

Pam held Miss Ellie's hand. She was TOO calm. TOO strong. "I don't want you to worry, no one wants Bobby back more than I do and I am going to do whatever I have to to find him. I know you're scared and I know you're hurting. Don't keep it inside."

Ellie squeezed Pam's hand and looked directly into her daughter-in-law's eyes. "I will be alright. We'll all be alright. I'm scared, but Bobby is fine. I have to believe it."

Pam was concerned about the almost robot like tone Ellie had taken. Was she saying this because she really believed it or was she trying to convince herself?

"Miss Ellie, I think you should try to get some rest now, and try not to worry." Even as she said the words Pam knew that it would be impossible for her not to worry.

Pam knew that it was unwise to press the subject any further. She felt like she needed more time to evaluate the situation. How should she act? Was Miss Ellie telling the truth--she was handling the fact that her husband died and that her son was missing too well. She shut the door behind her as she left.

Ellie sat alone and kept the tears in. It was hard, but she had too. She had to survive. Clayton was gone and Bobby was missing. There was no one but her. She would do what she had to do. After all, she had to survive.

In the hall, Pam almost smacked into Theresa. "Mrs. Ewing, come downstairs quick! You will never believe who is here!"

Downstairs in the living room, Sue Ellen stared at Jamie Ewing Barnes, disbelieving what her eyes were trying to tell her she saw. “Jamie?” she gasped. Was she seeing things? Was this Jamie?

Jamie looked confused and turned around to Cliff. “It's okay Jamie. That's Sue Ellen Ewing…she's a good friend of yours.”

Jack looked at Cliff. He was almost speechless. “H…how?”

“We found her in Mexico Jack. She's been in a coma since the climbing accident years ago,” Cliff answered matter-of-factly. He turned to Jamie. “It's your brother--Jack.”

Jack smiled, almost disbelieving that she was standing there at Southfork. “Jamie.” Jack walked to her and touched her face. It was real. She was real.

“Jack…I…I remember your face from my dreams.”

Jack embraced her and held her to him. “I can't believe this. I never…I never expected anything like this would ever happen. I didn't think I'd ever see you again. We…I thought you were dead.”

Afton stood away from the rest, silently cursing Jamie Ewing Barnes for ruining her marriage. She didn't want to be here at Southfork.

Jamie nodded and her eyes were beginning to go blurry with tears. She'd dreamed about Jack—she remembered it now. “Oh Jack.”

“Sshh.” He rubbed her back and shoulders.

"Oh my God," Pam said from the staircase. Theresa walked down behind her and they both filed into the living room. "Jamie, how?"

Jamie recognized the face from one of her dreams, but she couldn't put a name with it. She turned to Jack with an inquisitive look on her face.

"Your sister-in-law, Pam Ewing," he answered.

Jamie smiled and Pam matched her smile before embracing her old friend.

Sue Ellen couldn't believe this. She never thought she'd see her friend again either. And then they all heard a crash from behind. Sue Ellen turned around, only to see that Miss Ellie had somehow knocked over the table near the staircase. She braced herself on the banister.

“Jamie…” she said, and then her knees went weak and she fell to them.

“Miss Ellie,” Jack gasped. He ran over to her and helped her to her feet. Sue Ellen and Pam joined them. “Come on…let's get you upstairs.”

“But Jamie…” Miss Ellie protested.

Sue Ellen nodded. “Jamie's okay. She's alive. You can talk to her later, but you need to rest.” Sue Ellen knew that Dr. Danvers had sedated her earlier and left strict instructions for her to stay in bed.

Cliff wanted a moment alone to talk to his sister, so he followed them up.

Jamie and Afton were left alone in the living room. “Convincing act you had there Jamie.”

“It's no act and you know it. And I won't have you being so mean to me about it…”

Afton grinned slyly. “I don't think that's your choice.”

“Just leave me alone. I don't want to talk to you!” Jamie snapped. “If Cliff comes downstairs, tell him I'll be outside.” She left and Afton was alone until Jack walked downstairs.

“Where'd my sister go?” he asked.

“I don't know,” Afton lied. She realized that Jack Ewing might be the person she needed to talk to right now. “Jack, can we talk?”

He looked confused. “What could you and I possibly have to discuss? I hardly know you.”

Afton smiled. “I'd like to get to know you. Is there some private place here where we could talk?”

Jack looked around. “Your guess is as good as mine. This place is crammed full of people. How about outside?”

Jamie had gone out the front door, so Afton suspected it would be safe if she and Jack went out back. “That'll work.” Jack led the way and they walked out onto the patio. The afternoon was warm, almost eighty degrees, and the sun was beginning to drop lower in the sky, signaling the oncoming night.

“What did you want to talk about?” Jack asked.

“Your sister.”

“What about her?”

“Are you so sure that she is your sister?”

Jack was quiet for a few seconds. “She looks like my sister…you found her in Mexico. Why wouldn't she be my sister?”

Afton rolled her eyes. “Jack, this is real life, not Another World. People don't just come back from the dead…” Then Afton realized what she was saying. Her own husband had 'come back from the dead'.

“Jamie wasn't dead. We never found the body.”

“True. But what if she's just some woman who looked an awful lot like your sister?”

“Why would anybody do that?”

Afton grinned like the Cheshire cat. “You are so naïve. I kind of like it though…it's kind of cute. But the answer is MONEY. Some people would do anything for money. Hell, just look at that woman who married the millionaire on TV. What if someone out there looked like your sister and knew about what happened to Jamie? They knew she was married to Cliff Barnes and that the marriage would still be valid if Jamie were to return. Then she'd be financially set for life—even if they did divorce.”

“She's Jamie. I can feel it. I know my sister.”

“Believe what you will Jack, but I intend to prove that she is nothing more than a gold-digger who's impersonating Jamie for the money.”

“Don't you hurt my sister,” Jack said defensively.

“I won't. Jamie can't be hurt anymore—she's dead. Just remember that.”

Dallas P.D.

Hope Miller reviewed the results from Clayton Farlow's autopsy, and couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sadness. The poor man. Such a wonderful family and a wonderful wife, and now it was all gone. Not even his fault, Hope thought to herself. Most likely, the person was aiming for J.R. Ewing, and missed. She wondered the guilt that Mr. Ewing was feeling. She wondered if he felt guilt---he was certainly unpleasant based on her brief time spent with him.

The investigation was reaching a stagnant point. She was a bit daunted, handling such a high profile case. She was even contemplating going to the chief and asking for assistance. Still, they had a suspect, but Todd Foster might not hold water. He swore he was out of town for the night, but did not stay in any hotel. Still, he offered numerous bars as alibis and Hope was checking those out. If not Foster, then who? The autopsy had revealed what type of gun---a Smith and Wesson 9mm—had been used in the shooting, but it seemed as if the investigation was on a one way collision with dead ends.

When Officer Hilton burst through the door, she knew that everything was about to change.

“What's going on?” Hope asked.

Hilton tried to catch his breath. “We found the gun.”

Southfork

Understandably, the whole family had been shocked and elated at Jamie's return. Well, everyone except J.R. Even Miss Ellie's spirits had been lifted a little when she saw Jamie. Despite all the questions that she received, the family was sensitive enough to let Jack spend the past twenty-four hours alone with his sister. He couldn't believe that she was alive! It was like a blessing.

They were sitting alone together, at the Southfork breakfast table. It hadn't been awkward ever, but it was difficult to make conversation because Jack didn't even know where to begin! Jamie leveled with him right away. She remembered some things, but a lot was blurry. She knew he was her brother, though. That was for certain.

Jack had told Jamie everything, in hopes that she would remember something; growing up in Alaska, his fight with their father, her working on the oil rigs. There were times when it would seem to spark something, but it would just never pan out. He reminded her of the years that she spent in Dallas; how she first came to town with the document claiming ownership of Ewing Oil, her marriage to Cliff and how she left town and the horrible accident where she was presumed dead. He'd left out the part about she and Cliff being on bad terms when she left town. But the important thing was that she wasn't dead! Jack couldn't help smiling.

Jamie had plenty of questions too, wanting to know about what Jack had been doing. His marriage, to April and then to Abby. “Boy, it seems like you and woman whose names begin with 'A' really don't get along, maybe it runs in the family,” she had joked while thinking about Afton.

“What about Sue Ellen?” Jamie asked.

That made Jack silent for a moment. He had told Jamie that they were involved, but most talk about Sue Ellen had been devoted to Jack's explanation of her twisted history with J.R., the friendship between Sue Ellen and Jamie, and just a brief hitting on his relationship with her.

“That's a good question.”

“Are you two not seeing each other anymore? That would be a real shame.”

Jack sipped his coffee. “I don't know. I love her. She knows I love her, or at least I hope she does.”

“What happened? If you were so in love, why did you two break up?”

“She questioned my love. She thought I didn't love her because of some actions---some stupid things, I did. I tried to drill it in her head, but it's like trying to get through a brick wall. She just won't hear it.”

“Well, I'll tell her,” his sister smiled.

“Jamie, you don't have to do that.”

“I want to. You're my brother. Of course I'm going to help you out. After all, Sue Ellen's my friend. At least, that's what everyone is telling me.”

“Are you scared?” Jack asked, quieting his voice a bit.

“A little. Mostly confused. I am starting to remember things, but I'm married. I've been married for thirteen years and I haven't even known it. I still can't believe that! I don't even know my husband!”

“Huh,” Jack grunted. “You may not want to know him.” Jamie shot him a confused look. “Sorry. I shouldn't have said that. Cliff's a good guy, and he's changed a LOT since I first met him, and you first married him. But I'm not going to lie to you. Your marriage wasn't always ideal.”

Jamie rested her head in her hands, her elbows propped on the table. “I just don't know. I'm so confused. And it just seems like such awful timing, since Clayton just died and now Bobby is missing. I feel horrible. I hardly remember either of them!”

“It will come back. Just keep yourself surrounded by the people you love, and it will come back.”

Silently, Jamie wondered if Cliff Barnes was one of them.

The Cattleman's Club

“Melissa, thanks a lot for having breakfast with me here.” Christopher finished off his omelet and pushed the plate away.”

She smiled. “I enjoyed it. I needed to get out of the house for a while…I'm on vacation from the force for the week. And then I'm sure you needed to do the same. How is everybody?”

“They're okay, considering the situation.”

“That's good. I can't believe that Karen kidnapped her son!” Melissa said.

“Yeah, me either. Let's not talk about Karen though, okay?”

Melissa nodded. “Sure. What about your Dad?”

“It's hard, but Mom's holding up pretty well and I just have to believe he's okay. It's funny though how you grow up and have to start worrying about your parents. How are you?”

“Shitty,” Melissa said blatantly.

“Why?”

“I told John Ross about the pregnancy and he totally blew up about it. He doesn't want this baby.”

“I'm sure he does…I bet he was just surprised.”

“Then why hasn't he talked to me about it? He's stayed at Southfork every night since I told him…he hasn't even been back to our apartment since.”

“He'll get over it. I wouldn't worry too much Melissa.”

“I need him Chris. I went to the doctor yesterday…”

“Yeah? What did he say?”

“He told me that this could be a difficult pregnancy.”

Christopher frowned. “Oh no…I know that's not what you wanted to hear.”

“Needless to say.”

“John Ross should be there supporting you. Do you want me to talk to him?”

“No. Please don't.” Melissa wanted to change the subject. “Are you still drinking?”

Christopher looked uncomfortable. “Not since the night Clayton died, but I…I want to so bad. You have no idea.”

Melissa smiled and reached her hand across the table, putting it on top of his. “Yes I do.”

“You do?”

“Alcohol was my life for the entire year after my brother Jake was killed, but I went to some AA meetings and got a sponsor…her name was Rose. She was a sweet old lady who'd been an alcoholic herself and she helped me through it all. Any time I felt the need to drink, I'd call her. She'd always try to come over, no matter what time it was. If she couldn't come over, she'd stay on the phone with me until the craving passed.”

“It's good that you had her.”

“Maybe you need someone like that.”

“I don't need anybody Melissa. I can deal with this myself.”

Melissa decided not to protest—for now.

“Can deal with what?” came a voice from behind them.

Christopher turned around, recognizing the voice as that of Kaitlin Ryan. “Kaitlin!”

Kaitlin smiled. There was a man standing beside her whom she introduced as Lance, a friend of hers. “Christopher, can we talk alone for a second?” she asked.

Christopher looked across at Melissa, who nodded. She stood up and walked over to the bar with Lance.

“Where have you been?” Christopher asked.

“Would you believe I was in the Bahamas?”

“With Lance?”

“Yeah,” Kaitlin grinned. “No…he's just a friend and business associate. Now enough about me. How are you?”

Christopher paused. “I've been okay.”

“You're lying. Now tell me the truth.”

“Yeah, I'm lying. My life sucks right now. Is that good enough?”

“No, it's not good enough—why does your life suck?”

“You don't know?”

“I don't know much of anything Kiddo. I've been in the Bahamas, remember?”

“Karen is wanted by the police.”

“Oh my God, for what?”

“She kidnapped a kid…her child that she gave up for adoption years ago and never told me about. And to top that off, she's with Eric Stone.”

“Oh no…”

“And Clayton was shot at Southfork.”

“WHAT? Is he okay?”

“No. He's dead.”

“Oh…I'm so sorry. You told me how much you cared about him. This is so much coming at you at once, but thank God you're not still drinking.”

Christopher looked away, guiltily and Kaitlin picked up on it.

“You are, aren't you?”

“Is that so wrong? What else do I have?”

“You have a family that cares about you…that's what you have. A family that needs you.”

“They don't need me.”

“I know that's not true. You know I care about you a lot.”

“Do you? Then why did you hurt me so much when you came back pretending to be my biological mother?”

Kaitlin sighed. “I thought that was all behind us…I was so wrong to do that.”

“Okay.”

“I don't want you to drink Christopher. Drinking is just going to lead you down a path of self-destruction.”

“Hello? Did somebody leave the television on? Is this an after-school special? I don't need any lectures from you.”

Kaitlin frowned. “I'm just looking out for you. I know I've said this before, but you're like a son to me. I want you to take care of yourself.”

“I already have a mother and I can take care of myself…without your help. Now I appreciate your concern, but I'm okay, really.”

Kaitlin had her doubts.

The Barnes Residence

John Ross followed Pamela Rebecca into the spacious living room and took a seat on the couch. Instead of going into the nursery for Megan, she sat down beside him. He was surprised. “I just came to get Megan…”

“I know, but we haven't talked in a while.”

“There's nothing to talk about.”

“Is this good for our daughter?”

“Is what good for her? What are you talking about?”

“You and I. We're so disconnected from each other and I think Megan is beginning to pick up on that.”

“Hmm…” John Ross remembered reading somewhere about how perceptive young children where. Was it possible that Megan knew what was going on, at least in a way?

“You know I'm right.”

“Maybe I do.”

The phone rang and Rebecca sighed, but then she remembered she was still waiting to hear about whether or not she got the job at the Clifford Group. “I'll be right back.”

“Take your time.” After she left the room, John Ross stood up and walked into the nursery where he picked up Megan Eleanor.

“Hey there,” John Ross said with a smile.

“Hi Da-Da.”

Pamela Rebecca suddenly burst into the room. “I got it! I can't believe I got it!”

“Got what?” John Ross asked. Megan smiled with amusement at her mother's excitement.

“The job! You're looking at the public relations director for the Clifford Group.”

“What? Are you kidding me?”

“No! I applied and my dad doesn't even know. I got this job on my own, without his help. I can't believe this!”

“Mama happy?” Megan asked.

“You bet I am Honey…you bet I am.” Rebecca was happy because phase one of her plan was now underway.

Southfork Ranch

Donna Dowling didn't have much time, but she was determined to make time. Especially now. The family was in shambles. Clayton dead; Bobby missing, and now Karen all over the news. There were about a million things to handle at the office, but the deputy mayor was taking most of it over in the face of the family crisis.

Everyone was handling the news differently. Pam had gathered the family together the night before and told them about Bobby's disappearance. The news about Karen broke last night as well, or at least, Christopher had told the whole family.

Pam was trying her best to keep composed. She would break down, though. Christopher was trying to be supportive, but he seemed to be hurting just as much, but in an emptier way. When Donna looked at his face, and looked into his eyes, there seemed to be a large hole. Like there was nothing there, or no feeling. It seemed to have made Pam and Christopher closer, though. Both were missing their spouses. Both were equally in pain. J.R. kept his usual grimace. He didn't seem to be too concerned with Karen. Donna never got the impression that he really liked her. She could tell that he was hurting about Bobby though. It was like when Jock died, but there wasn't that same sense of security in his feelings. To Donna, it seemed like J.R. wasn't sure HOW to feel. She wasn't sure how to feel, except scared. None of them knew where Bobby was.

Ray was trying to be strong, for her and for Miss Ellie. But she knew that he was scared about Bobby too. He wouldn't let on to how badly he was hurting, though. All Donna could do was hold him at night. Sometimes that's the only way that she knew what to say, even though it really wasn't saying anything.

John Ross seemed to get very distraught when he heard the news about Karen. Donna could tell by his eyes. He wouldn't look at anyone, even his mother. They were engaged once. Was it possible that John Ross still had feelings for her?

It was Miss Ellie, though, that concerned Donna the most. She seemed to be taking everything so calmly. Pam had told the family that Miss Ellie already knew about Bobby, but when the news about Karen broke, it was as if Miss Ellie didn't even flinch. She simply instructed Christopher to instruct Karen to come home to a family that cared about her next time he spoke with her. She rationalized that Karen was going through a very difficult time, and needed everyone's support.

After the announcement, Donna talked to Ray about Miss Ellie. Her whole life was shattered and she was keeping everything together. That wasn't right. Three members of her family had tragedy befall them all in the span of a day: Clayton was dead! She was keeping everything inside. Ray was taking care of the funeral arrangements, but from the conversation she just had with Ray from her cell phone, Miss Ellie was now becoming integral in the arrangements as well. Was she trying to keep busy to keep her mind off the pain?

The revelation of Jamie as being still alive was wonderful news. Ellie smiled, and even laughed a little. It was a blessing, but there was so much pain.

Donna didn't know, but she was scared that Ellie was only letting pain in, and not letting any out.

Downtown Dallas

Pamela Barnes Ewing fished through her purse and came out with the small camera that she'd found in the nursery just a few days earlier. She'd never been able to take it to the electronics store—she'd been so sidetracked by Clayton's death and then Jamie's return last night.

Cliff sat across the table at the outdoor café in Dallas and she handed it over to him. “Cliff, what do you think about that?”

He took it in his hand and turned it over, surveying it from all angles. “Dunno. What is it?”

“I found it in the nursery and I know it's not supposed to be there. I'm planning to drop by that electronics store in the mall and asking them if they know what it is.”

Cliff looked at it again. “It's got a little lens here…I'd say it was some type of camera.”

Pam was perplexed. “You could be right. But what would a camera be doing in Southfork, unless someone was trying to spy on us?”

“I'd say that's exactly what they were trying to do. This might even have something to do with Bobby's disappearance.”

“That's a long shot.”

“Maybe…maybe not. You know what this smells like?” Cliff didn't wait for an answer. “This smells like Rex Wentworth. I told you from the beginning that that man couldn't be trusted.”

“Cliff, you are so suspicious. Why would he want Bobby out of town? And what would planting a camera in Southfork, in Gracie's nursery of all places, do for him?”

“Think about it Pam, you know Bobby better than anyone, no matter how upset he was, he would have called you by now. So that only leaves one option, foul play. And who else is there who would want to hurt you and Bobby?”

“Well JR hates me, but I don't think even he would go that far, especially when it is hurting Miss Ellie.”

“Right, so the logical answer is Rex.”

“But why? Bobby hasn't done anything to Rex, we've hardly seen him while he's been in Dallas.”

“But you yourself told me how violently he reacted when you told him that you shot our 'sainted' sister Katherine. And if he's half as crazy as she was...”

Suddenly it all hit Pam, maybe Rex did have something to do with it and maybe he was trying to get to her by taking away what she loved more than anything! A mixture of sheer rage and guilt over Bobby's involvement rose up in her.

"Cliff, let's go see our dear 'brother'. He got a penthouse here in town. Iris told me where it was. Shall we?”

Cliff nodded. “Time to pay Rex a visit…see if we can make him tell us where Bobby is.”

Ewing Oil

Sue Ellen was sitting at Lucy's old desk---her desk now---and flipped through some files. It had been a while since she had been at Ewing Oil, and she had a lot of catching up to do. Janice had already left, so Phyllis had stepped in as her secretary, and was a Godsend. Sue Ellen could see how worried she was about Bobby though. Almost every ten minutes she would make some comment about whether or not Bobby had been found. Sue Ellen was scared herself. She was elated about Jamie, but it was hard to feel good with so much pain around. She just felt so empty.

She looked up to see J.R. standing in her doorway. He was holding some documents.

“Since you put up such a fuss, here's some geologic prospects I just approved.” He moved over to her desk and placed them down.

“Thank you,” she said.

There was a silence for a moment. Finally, J.R. spoke. “You satisfied? You're in my company.”

“I don't want to discuss this now,” was all she said.

“Well I do honey.”

“Look, it doesn't really matter now, alright? I've got other things on my mind.”

“Whole family does Sue Ellen. You sure as hell ain't helping, causing trouble here.”

“What exactly does that mean?”

“Is this worth it? Sure as hell caused a lot of problems to get this pretty little office. Broke Lucy's heart. Now she's ticked at you, Gary and John Ross. Hear you and Jack were on the outs too. Bet that does Mama's heart a lot of good, especially now.”

“Don't you dare try to place any of this on me. And don't even bring Miss Ellie into this.”

“You're the one that started it.”

“No YOU'RE the one that started it!” she quickly countered back. “This was all because of you. You needed to be taught a lesson. It's pretty sad at your age, but you did. So don't go blaming anything, or any kind of family turmoil on me. YOU were the one that was responsible for John Ross's accident. YOU were the one that tried to butter me up just so you could get into the Clifford Group. Don't you even dare blame me for anything!”

“So it was revenge. That's what I thought.” J.R. grinned. “You ever think about all the time you spend getting revenge on me? Kinda funny when you think about it. I must be on your mind a lot. Bet that didn't make Jack happy.”

“Jack and I are none of your business.”

“So you two are through. Otherwise, you'd be flaunting it right in my face just to get a rise out of me.” He turned around. “See you at dinner.” He left, shutting the door behind him.

Sue Ellen picked up her paperweight and threw it at the door. Damn him! She went to all this trouble to get into Ewing Oil, and he didn't even seemed fazed. And why was he so right about Jack? Sure, Jamie was back and he was a big comfort to her---they were a comfort to each other---with all the recent crises, but she could never look at him the same way again. Not after knowing what he'd done. Just like J.R. had done to her so many times.

But he was right. He was on her mind.

Rex's Penthouse

Rex was startled to see Pam and Cliff standing behind the door, once he'd answered it. “Pamela, Cliff, what a pleasant surprise,” he said superficially.

“I'm sure it is,” Cliff said. He pushed his way past Rex and Pam did the same.

Rex shut the door and joined them in the living area. “What can I do for you?”

“We want answers.”

Pam produced the mini-camera and handed it to Rex. “Does that look familiar?”

“Should it?” Rex asked.

“You tell me,” Pam answered. “I found that in the nursery at Southfork. It's some kind of camera.”

“Well I can assure you, I had nothing to do with this.”

Iris walked into the room and smiled at Pam. “Hi, I'm so sorry about Clayton.”

“Thank you Iris.”

Rex handed the device back to Pam. “I'm sorry. I wish I could help you.”

“Bobby is missing.”

“Oh?” Rex said with fake surprise.

“Yes. He left for Europe and I haven't heard anything from him. He needs to be here for his mother.”

Rex nodded. “Of course. Tell you what…I'll call around. I've got connections all over Europe. I'll have them all on the lookout for Bobby.”

Pam forced a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes. “Thank you.”

“Anything to help. I know how much you love your husband. Now, I really must be going. I have some business to take care of here in town.”

“What kind of business?” Cliff asked.

“Let's not forget that I still run Wentworth Limited in Paris. It takes a lot of work running it long distance like that.”

Cliff squinted his eyes, deep in thought. “You see, that's what makes me wonder. Why are you in Dallas when you have a company in Paris?”

“Like I said, I wanted to get to know my extended family here.”

“That excuse is wearing just a little thin, don't ya think Rex? I don't buy it. I don't see you clamoring at my door, you've hardly seen us since you've been here," Cliff said, putting his hands in his pockets.

“I can't help that. Have a nice day Pam…Cliff. Iris, if they want to stay, see to it that they have lunch.” Rex shut the door and was gone.

Outside, Rex opened up his cell phone and dialed. “Gregor, it's me. Forget about finding a sound alike for Bobby Ewing.”

“Why's that?”

“Because Pam and that annoying brother of hers are on to us. We need to find Bobby Ewing's remains…and quickly. If they can't be found, find someone else and switch dental records or something. It's time Pam learns that that plane crashed.”

The Barnes Residence

“Divorce her!” Afton said adamantly.

“It's not that simple,” Cliff responded. He'd just gotten back home after talking with Rex.

“What the hell do you mean 'it's not that simple?' Tell her you're married to me now.”

“Afton, just give Jamie a few days. She'll come around.” Cliff was starting to get impatient.

“Not the Jamie that I saw. She said she had no intent of divorcing you.”

“She doesn't even remember who she is! She hardly remembers her own brother!”

“So she's going to stay married to someone that she hardly even knows?” Afton raised her voice. “And from what I hear, you weren't exactly the greatest husband in the world.”

“Hey,” Cliff pointed at her. “Watch it. That was a long time ago. I was a lot different.”

“Then prove it to me. Get up some backbone and tell her you want a divorce. You're married to me now.”

“Actually, Afton, I'm married to her, and no, not now. There is way too much going on to press this issue.” Cliff threw up his hands. “I can't even believe we're sitting around talking about this! My son is on the run from the law, for God's sakes! And all you can think about is Jamie?”

Afton tried to bat her eyelashes. “I just want you to be happy.”

“What will make me happy is dropping this!” Cliff stormed out of the room. A moment later, Pamela Rebecca entered. “Mom?” She asked. Afton seemed distant.

“Hi,” Afton finally spoke.

“Did you guys just get into a fight?”

“Yeah,” Afton responded again, not caring to elaborate.

“About Eric?” Pamela Rebecca had told Cliff she had spoken with Eric, and that he was physically fine.

“No. Not about Eric. About Jamie Ewing. Oh wait, excuse me, Jamie Ewing Barnes. She's still married to your father because she didn't really die all those years ago.”

“He'll divorce her. She's a nutjob.”

“He better,” Afton said as she turned away and stared at the wall. “He better.”

Dallas P.D.

Hope Miller had put in the request for assistance on the case, but she hadn't heard anything back from administration. It was getting late. Hilton should be back any second with the trace on the gun they found. It was THE murder weapon. It was in some woods on the Braddock county line, about 20 minutes from Southfork. Some teenagers had found it, and called the police. Ballistics test proved what the cops already suspected. It had been used to kill Clayton Farlow. Now the question was: who did it belong too?

Hilton entered Hope's office. He placed a small manila file on her desk. She took a deep breath. When she saw whom the gun was registered to, her mouth dropped. She had known some basics of Dallas society, but know it all made sense. The person WAS aiming for J.R.

The gun was registered to Mr. Clifford Barnes.

The Barnes Residence, the next day

Cliff was sitting at the kitchen table, drinking his coffee. The TV was on in the background, but he had muted it and really wasn't paying much attention. He had a craving for some Chinese Food, but he remembered the doctor's advice and knew he had to cut down. Plus, it was so early. General Tso's Chicken at eight in the morning was probably not a great idea.

He hadn't been able to sleep, and neither had Afton, apparently, as she was out of the house before he woke up from his short cat nap that morning. He had no idea where she went. She didn't even bother to leave a note.

Why was she so insistent about this whole Jamie issue? He saw her point. She did have a right to be upset. The whole thing was a shock. But couldn't she just let things sit, until Bobby was found, until Eric came back? Until Jamie was a little more settled.

Cliff didn't like to admit it, but Jamie was on his mind a lot. Imagine, after all these years she was alive! He was haunted by the way he treated her. He was so cruel. He married her for the wrong reasons, and he didn't realize until too late how wonderful she really was. Now she was alive.

Cliff's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the doorbell. He wondered who it could be. When he opened the door, his curiosity was peaked by the young woman and the two police officers behind her.

“Can I help you?” He asked.

Hope Miller couldn't believe that she was going to say this again. “Cliff Barnes? You have the right to remain silent….”

Along the Atlantic Coast

Bobby awakened and his mind was much clearer. He looked around, but didn't recognize his surroundings. Where was he? How did he get here? He remembered the fight with Pam, but not much else. Everything after that was foggy. Bobby stood up, shaky at first, and then walked to the door of the building. Outside the sun was shining and he could hear the ocean.

Gordon spotted him and waved. “Well, hello!”

Bobby squinted and walked to him. “Thanks for saving me.”

“You're welcome. I couldn't let anybody drown. What's your name?”

“Bobby Ewing. Do you have a phone or somethin? I need to call my wife…she needs to know I'm okay.”

“Nope, sorry, don't have one.”

“Damn. How far is the nearest town?”

“Couple of miles up the road. I can take you there tomorrow if you'd like.”

“Tomorrow? Why not now?”

“Cause, there's a dilly of a storm that's s'posed to be blowing up tonight. It's already getting pretty late. I don't own a vehicle—we'd have to walk and I wouldn't want to be caught between here and there without any shelter.”

Bobby nodded. “I understand. You don't have to go…if you'll tell me the way, I'll go alone.”

“Sorry. Not gonna tell you. You're in no condition to go gallivantin' off to town on foot with a storm ah comin'.”

“Damn it, I'm going! I have to call Pam.”

“Like hell you do boy.” Gordon handed Bobby a hammer and a stack of boards. “We've gotta board up the house. Now it ain't hurricane season, but we've been known to get some pretty strong winds this time of year. I ain't takin' no chances.”

Despite the situation, Bobby couldn't help but crack a smile. This man reminded him so much of his daddy and there was obviously no way of getting around him. “Okay. But we leave first thing in the morning.”

The old man smiled. “Got yourself a deal boy. Now let's hurry up and get this done before the winds start.”

The Oil Baron's Club

Afton sat at the bar and nursed her drink. Why was everyone staring at her? It seemed like they were all whispering and looking at her. Maybe they thought she was an alcoholic. After all, it was a bit early for a drink.

“Miss Barnes? Or should I say Miss Cooper now?”

Afton turned around. It was Rex Wentworth. God, he was handsome.

“Mr. Wentworth. Nice to see you again.”

“Mind if I join you?”

Afton indicated that she didn't, and he pulled up a seat next to her. “A tad early, for a drink, don't you think?” He said.

Afton couldn't help but swoon. He was so confident. So striking.

“When you need one, you need one,” she said and took another sip.

“I have heard of the return of Jamie Ewing. It's quite eerie.”

“It's a pain-in-the-ass, that's what it is.”

“I see that you are unhappy with the situation,” Rex said, moving his face a little closer to Afton's. He could tell that she was entranced.

“Wouldn't you be? You find out you're not married to the person you thought you were married too?”

“Ah, Miss Cooper, we have a lot in common.”

“Really? How?” Afton was flirting along with him now.

“My wife is not as loving as she appears to be. She has eyes for another man. We are going to be divorced soon.”

“I'm sorry to hear that.”

“Really? I'm not. Since coming to America, I've realized that there are many, other,” Rex deepened his voice a bit, “beautiful and available women. Women Iris could never be.” He never broke eye contact with her.

Afton didn't know what to say. Rex continued. “Now, if you will excuse me, I have a breakfast meeting. Please, call my office.” He handed her his card. “We will have lunch sometime. Who better to introduce me to Dallas than its most noted and beautiful television personality?”

Afton took his card and smiled. “I will,” she said. And she meant it.

She watched Rex's back as he walked away, never seeing the smile of triumph that crossed his face. Suddenly, her cell phone rang. “Hello?” She answered.

It was Cliff. He had just been arrested.

The Dallas P.D.

Cliff was being taken out of fingerprinting when Afton got there. Pam and Pamela Rebecca were already there, and both had worried looks on their face.

“What happened?” Afton directed her question at Pam.

“He was arrested this morning,” Pam quickly replied.

“Mom, the gun that killed Clayton. It was Dad's gun.” Pamela Rebecca said this with a great amount of unease.

“Oh God,” was all Afton could say when she saw Cliff being led towards them, handcuffed by a police officer. Then she saw J.R.

He was coming right towards them. Pam tried to intercept him. “J.R., leave.”

J.R. ignored his sister-in-law and aimed his verbal attack directly at Cliff. “You son of a bitch. Try to shoot me? Well Clayton's dead and my momma's heart is broken thanks to you.”

“He didn't try to shoot you!” Pamela Rebecca said.

“Shut up J.R.,” Cliff said, his head down.

“You've caused too much trouble for this family Barnes. Trying to drill across from Southfork, prosecuting Ewing Oil for that spill all those years ago…”

“J.R. go home,” Afton joined in.

“You Barnes are all trouble. Both you and your sister. Been nothing but trouble since you came along.”

Cliff struggled to free himself of his handcuffs so that he could assault him. But before he knew it, he heard a loud SMACK, Pam had beat him to it.

Finally, a police officer intervened. “Mr. Ewing, we need to take Mr. Barnes in for some more questioning. Perhaps it's best if you go home. We'll call your family if anything new arises.”

Cliff was led away, leaving J.R., Pam, Pamela Rebecca and Afton standing there. Pam directed her icy stare back to J.R. “You make me sick,” she said.

“Don't do that much for me either, honey,” he said and walked away.

Pam had to control herself to stop shaking. “I'm going to the restroom,” she finally said. She needed to do something or she would lose it.

Pamela Rebecca followed her, leaving Afton alone in the hallway of the police station. She needed some answers. She was going to get them. But then she saw Jamie, looking confused and overwhelmed, and her blood boiled.

“What are you doing here?” she said, walking up to Jamie.

“I heard that Cliff was arrested. I wanted to know if he was alright.”

“Cliff's fine. We'll call you if we need anything. OK Jamie? Cliff just needs his family right now. Pam's here and so is Pamela Rebecca. So we're all just fine.”

Jamie couldn't respond, because a female police officer came walking towards them. “Mrs. Barnes?” the officer said.

Both Jamie and Afton responded. “Yes?”

“Umm…”

“I'm Mrs. Barnes,” Afton stepped forward.

“Listen, I don't want to start a dispute, so whoever is legally Mrs. Barnes just come with me….”

Jamie stepped forward, and Afton couldn't stop her.

Ewing Oil

“Sly, is J.R. here?” Lucy asked with a smile on her face.

Sly could not believe that Lucy was actually at Ewing Oil, and that she was asking for J.R. When Sly buzzed J.R., she was even more surprised when her boss agreed to see Lucy, although he told Sly to give him a minute.

“Where's Phyllis?” Lucy asked, making chit-chat with Sly.

“She had a dentist appointment, so she left early.”

“She must be sad with Janice gone. When did she leave?”

“Yesterday,” Sly said. “I think she's upset. The last couple of days have been rough.”

J.R. opened his door and motioned for Lucy to come in. As she started to walk towards his office, Sly left the office to go to the bathroom down the hall. She turned the corner just as Todd stepped off of the elevators.

He didn't know why he came. No, he did know. To make one last attempt with Janice. Was he stupid for telling her it was through? Actually, the more Todd thought about it, Janice was the one that told HIM that they were over. But he knew who started it. J.R.

He walked into the outer office of Ewing Oil, and saw that Janice's nameplate was gone. Phyllis's had replaced it. So she really was gone. Maybe it wasn't worth it.

He started to turn and walk away when he heard the sound of J.R. and Lucy's voice carrying through the open door to J.R.'s office. He let his curiosity get the best of him and waited outside the door.

“Now what do you want Lucy because I don't have much time,” J.R. said as he sat down in his chair.

“A business proposition,” Lucy responded. “Well, more of a partnership really.”

“You're not in this company anymore darlin'. Why would I want to do business with you?”

“That's my point. I want back in Ewing Oil. Sue Ellen took what was mine away from me and I didn't even get a fair shot at keeping it. I want it back.”

“So what are you saying?”

“That you help me get it back,” Lucy said. On the other side of the door, Todd was intrigued.

“And why exactly should I do that?” J.R. asked.

“Because neither of us want Sue Ellen in this company. Together we can get her out.” J.R. laughed. “What's so funny? It can work.”

“Lucy honey, if I had to choose between you and Sue Ellen being in this company, why in the world do you think I'd side with you? It's the lesser of two evils: you're the idiot. At least Sue Ellen's got more experience here and with the Clifford Group.” J.R. leaned back in his chair and turned his attention towards his paper work. “Now get outta here. Run along and play. I don't have time for your stupid little revenge schemes.”

On the other side of the door, Todd's jaw dropped. He couldn't believe what had just occurred. He felt bad for Lucy, getting ousted on so many different levels but never being told. He looked around. Lucy would be coming out any minute and Sly would be coming back. He went out into the hallway, and opted for the stairs.

Lucy stormed out of J.R.'s office. She didn't even bother saying goodbye as she walked past Sly. She just wanted to get home to Neil and hold him.

In the stairway, Todd rested on the steps for a minute. Lucy wanted back in Ewing Oil. J.R. wasn't going to be of any help to her. Then it clicked. Todd had a plan.

Neil and Lucy's

The phone rang, and Neil managed to grab it before running out the door for a meeting. “Hello?”

“Neil. It's Afton.”

It was the call he was dreading. “What do you want?”

“Take a wild guess. You've had enough time. Tell her.” Afton's voice was stern.

“You're kidding me! Now? With everything that's happened? Are you inhuman?”

“She's lived in bliss long enough. It's really quite sickening.” Afton had just come back from the police station. She had been questioned, not Jamie. But the whole mess of who was Cliff's legal wife had to be cleared up. She was steaming mad. She wanted to make someone else hurt.

“You're not evil, Afton. Don't do this to her. Clayton just died. Her uncle is missing.”

On the other end of the line, Afton was silent. It was really Bobby that got to her. Bobby was always kind to her. Pam had enough to deal with and Lucy and Pam were close; at least they used to be. “Alright. You have a little while longer. At least until after the funeral, and maybe more time, if I'm in the mood. But don't expect it to be smooth sailing. You're going to have to tell her. Eventually.”

With that, Afton hung up the phone, leaving Neil to start shaking.

Along the Atlantic Coast

The wind had picked up with such force that Bobby had to struggle to keep standing. He hammered the last board in place and checked to make sure that the rest were secured.

Gordon sighed with satisfaction. “Looks sturdy now. I couldn't have done it without you Bobby.”

“I guess I owed you a favor.”

The rain began to pelt down on the two of them and Gordon began to walk to the house. “Well let's get inside before we get soaked to the bone.”

Bobby nodded and followed Gordon inside. “Hope that holds.”

“I think it will. Listen to that wind blowin' out there would ya! I tell you what. There's nothin' like a storm when you know you're safe inside.”

Bobby was having a hard time enjoying it. All he could think about was Pam, Christopher, and Grace. He sat down, but was too restless to stay in one place, so he got up and walked over to the window where he looked out through the gap in between boards. “It's pouring out there.”

And then there was a loud crash and the boards came through the window with the sound of shattering glass. Bobby felt a pain in his head and then fell onto the floor, unconscious.
