Rex Wentworth's Penthouse

“It hasn't happened yet, has it Rex?” Gregor asked impatiently.

“No. The pilot hasn't drank the coffee—or it hasn't taken effect yet.”

“Believe me, it would have already taken effect. I loaded that thermos with so many sleeping pills that no one who drank from it would be able to keep their eyes open.”

“If per chance, the pilot doesn't drink it, then there is still the back-up plan.”

“Oh?”

“Yes.” Rex opened his desk drawer to reveal a small remote control. “One push of this button and it won't matter if the pilot falls asleep.”

High Above the Atlantic Ocean

Bobby sat in his seat, fidgeting. Normally, a flight was just another necessary inconvenience in his everyday life. He could have easily gone to sleep, or gotten another cup of coffee, but those were the farthest things from his mind.

What was on his mind was Pam. How he had to say goodbye to her. He couldn't even face her to do that.

The sky outside darkened as Bobby looked out the window. The plane was flying over ocean now, and he figured it would be several hours before he reached his destination…wherever that was.

The plane suddenly took a dip and Bobby lost his balance, nearly plummeting to the floor. He braced himself on the seat. His memory was now flooded with a similar time…

The plane started rocking violently and screams were heard from everywhere, children were crying and adults were screaming. Suddenly, the oxygen masks come down from above and Bobby thought about how silly those safety procedures were. He never thought he would have to put those to use.

"Bobby, I want to tell you this now, in case we don't live through this."

The mountains were coming closer and faster.

"I love you so much."

"Jenna don't-we have to live through this."

"Bobby I've always loved you, I always will. I'll never forget what a kind and caring man you are." Tears started to stream down Jenna's face.

Bobby and Jenna embraced and a tear rolled down Bobby's cheek as he thought about Christopher and never seeing his son again.

Suddenly the plane hit something, really hard. Bobby looked back and there was a huge gaping hole in the floor of the plane and a few seats were missing. More people screamed in horror and fear.

"Jenna," Bobby paused, "I love you too. I'll never forget our relationship." Bobby pulled Jenna toward him and kissed her.

Then the plane hit again, harder this time. A loud noise and violent crash tore the two apart and they looked back to find the back half of the plane missing, only the cold air of the Swiss Alps rushing in behind them. Seats were missing from what was left of their half of the plane, people were holding on to anything they could grab hold of…

Trying to push those thoughts from his mind, Bobby opened the cockpit door to check on the flight's operations. The pilot had his eyes on all the flight instruments.

“How's it going?” Bobby asked.

The pilot sipped on his coffee and nodded. He let out a long yawn, indicative of the marathon hours he'd flown. Rex wasn't about to cut him any slack. His eyelids began to droop and he'd slumped over in his seat.

Bobby saw him and tried to pick him up. He first held his ear to the pilot's chest. Lucky for Bobby, the man was still breathing. He adjusted the pilot to his normal upright position and began to slap his face.

“Come on, man! Snap out of it! Wake up!”

Any trace of color the pilot had left in his complexion quickly drained. Looking up, Bobby quickly saw the instrument panel. The altimeter signaled a rapid descent. He took the pilot's controls and tried to maneuver.

How can he get the plane back on its normal course?

He tilted the pilot's controls slightly upward, but it was to no avail. The plane continued its downward swoop, and all he could see out the windows was the dark waters of the Atlantic.

Oh my God, Bobby thought. So this is why Rex wanted me to tell Pam I was leaving…please, Pam…please don't forget me...don't let Grace forget me.

He grabbed the radio with no time left to lose, and pushed the “talk” button.

“MAYDAY!” Bobby shouted. “MAYDAY!!!”

Southfork Ranch

J.R.'s throat was parched. He headed downstairs to get some milk. What he really wanted was a good stiff drink, but he had to remember his doctor's orders. Needed to get up his strength if he was going to get back Ewing Oil.

He put on his slippers and quietly made his way down the stairs. Right now he was pretty much infuriated at half the family. Even Lucy and Clayton were looking pretty good to him compared with Sue Ellen, Jack, Pam, Donna, Ray and just about everyone else. And where the hell was Bobby?

What J.R. didn't notice as he reached the bottom of the stairs was the figure standing just past the stairs, in the doorway to the back hallway. There was a tiny glimmer of light that reflected off the barrel of the handgun that was gripped tightly in the figure's hand.

The figure followed J.R. as he walked into the kitchen, taking special care to insure that no sound came from footsteps.

J.R. entered the kitchen, his head down as he rubbed his eyes. He didn't even bother turning the light on. He knew exactly where the refrigerator was.

He walked over to the refrigerator, bending slightly to peruse the contents.

The figure entered the kitchen, quietly, gripping the gun. The gun was raised. J.R. bent down again to grab the milk. A shot was fired from a silencer-equipped gun.

The impact of bullet and body made a large “thug” sound, but the sounds of the shooter running away were barely perceptible over the body's tumult to the ground. He lay sprawled across the kitchen floor and blood trickled from the chest-wound, staining the black and white tile floor…

The house began to spin but soon his vision grew so blurred that he no longer recognized Southfork. A calm feeling crept over his body and he only wanted to sleep…
