Episode 24

John Ross Ewing III pulled his car into the driveway of Southfork and opened the door, stepping out onto the pavement. The night was a typical late fall night, cool and clear and a gentle breeze blew quietly across the ranch. He took his keys and entered the house. Pam and Bobby sat in the living room talking and John Ross heard Karen's name mentioned. He stopped and peered around the corner, listening to what they had to say. Within a few seconds, he had heard all he needed to know. Christopher and Karen had eloped to Las Vegas—they were married. Flashbacks of the wedding flew through his mind:

John Ross watched from the front of the aisle as his soon-to-be bride elegantly strode down the aisle. He was hoping this would prove his mother wrong, about the Southfork Curse. How he loved Karen. He would be different from his father. Part of him still resented JR for being so cruel to his mother. She was not only a wonderful woman, but she was caring mother. He would not cheat on Karen like his father did to Sue Ellen. He had only made a few mistakes in his life, and those had been during his wild months of college. He flushed them out of his mind as his bride met him at the patio.

"Did your parents make it," asked John Ross.

"I called, but there was no answer..."

The priest signaled and the nuptials began. The day was turning out perfectly. Sue Ellen eased back in her chair and figured she could rest for the moment. The priest asked the ever damaging question if anyone objected to the wedding and thank goodness, nobody did. He took a moment to talk about marriage and how wonderful it was to see people brought together in love. He proceeded to ask John Ross if he'd take Karen to be his wife and he exclaimed, "With all of my heart" and then the priest asked Karen if she'd take John Ross to be her husband.

She replied "I-"

There was a scream. "No child of mine will take anyone by the name of Ewing for a husband!"

The crowd turned and a look of shock crept upon all the faces. The face was older, but still recognizable.

Sue Ellen, visibly upset turned to JR. and asked quizzically, "Who is THAT?"

JR, with his evil smile creeping on his face explained, "Why darlin' I'd recognize that face anywhere! That's Alan Beam! Now what the hell is he doing here."

Pamela dropped Christopher's hand and put her hands to her face, "oh, oh God no, not now, please...please don't let this have anything to do with that, not on his wedding day...," gasped Pamela.

Alan Beam ran up to John Ross and punched him, the crowed gasped and Alan shoved John Ross into the pool. "You bastard !! You low down pile of scum! You're just like your father and I HAVE PROOF that this wedding cannot continue!!!"

Yes, he had made a mistake during college. One wild night…only a one-night stand, with Pamela Rebecca would forever change things for him. How was he to know that anything would come of it…how was he to know that it would ultimately destroy his relationship with the girl he truly loved—the girl that was now married to his cousin. He remembered Pamela Rebecca's words:

"God no, not now, please...please don't let this have anything to do with that, not on his wedding day..,"

Pamela had not wanted him or Karen to be hurt. She was happy with Christopher and did not intend to use the baby to break him and Karen up. She was a good, decent, loving person. She was then and she could be now.

"She's pregnant with MY baby," he said quietly, "both her and the baby are my responsibility. Karen has moved on and so should I. Maybe in time, I can even grow to love Pamela Rebecca.

Pam and Bobby left the living room and John Ross walked in and stood before Jock's painting that hung above the fireplace.

"Oh Grandpa, I wish you were here. I wish I had gotten a chance to know you before you were taken away from us. I think I've done what you always wanted. I'm taking a hand in Ewing Oil. Just me and Dad, side by side, running the company that you started. I'll make you proud Grandpa. I'll take Ewing Oil into the next century. I'll make it the biggest independent oil company in Texas. You just wait and see."

J.R., who had been standing behind them, wiped away a tear. Never before in his life, not even for one second, had he been so proud. He walked up to John Ross and put his hand on John Ross' shoulder. The two stood together before Jock's painting in the dimly lit living room. A fire blazed in the fireplace as they looked at the painting. Three generations of Ewings were together in the room—John Ross and J.R. stood there physically and Jock Ewing was there in spirit.

Cliff went in and out of consciousness, he was sure the woman was slipping something in the food or drinks she was force feeding him. "How long have I been here?" He had no idea, days, weeks. The last thing he remembered was the Halloween ball, "Lucy, what the hell was she thinking, she must be frantic!" Cliff was in his version of hell. The woman had dragged Cliff up to the bedroom a few days earlier, he was now tied to the bed. She kept talking to him, but Cliff had no idea what she was saying. "If only I could think straight, get my thoughts together, there had to be a way to get out of this."

Lucy was thinking about Cliff, but she was not worried, she was angry. She had thought about all the possibilities, checked the hospitals, but Cliff was nowhere to be seen. There was only one answer, and she hated to admit it. Cliff had dumped her, he was furious over Afton's accident, and the two of them must be back together. Afton was due to get out the hospital today, She knew that much. Lucy Ewing planned to be there.

Kaitlin Ryan awakened from a terrible dream, unable to remember exactly what she had been dreaming about. She got up and walked into the kitchen where she started a pot of coffee. A knock sounded at the door, startling her so much that she almost dropped the coffeepot. Kaitlin sat the pot on the coffee maker and opened the door. It was Patricia.

"What are you doing here?" asked Kaitlin coldly.

"I'm your mother, don't you think I have a right to be here?" said Patricia, inviting herself in.

"You're not my mother. You gave up that right the day you gave me up for adoption."

"Kaitlin, you know I had no choice."

"Choice? You were afraid you might have to give up a little something in order to raise three girls weren't you?"

"That's not it and you know it!" said Patricia, shakily.

"You're a heartless, selfish, woman Patricia," said Kaitlin. "I sent you all those letters and you never replied."

"I didn't want you to come to Dallas Kaitlin, it would disturb so many things. Things that were better left to rest."

"It's too late now. At first, I had no intention of doing this, but now I do. I'm going to let Sue Ellen and everyone else know all about how selfish you really are. I've talked to J.R., but he doesn't know the truth, not yet anyway."

"You wouldn't…"

"Oh yes I would. Sue Ellen will never want to have anything else to do with you again," said Kaitlin.

Patricia braced herself on a chair. "I see that you do have something in common with your twin don't you Kaitlin? I loved Kristin with all of my heart but she was a schemer and so are you!"

"Well, I learned from the best. My stepfather was quite the villain in Dallas there for a while. I think that's one thing I never figured out. Why, of all people would you 'give' me to him? Did you know him before?"

"Yes I did. He was a very wealthy man…a man that couldn't have any children of his own."

"Oh, that's obvious. Wealthy man. And you were a wealthy woman after you SOLD me to him weren't you!?"

"How dare you say such a thing?" said Patricia.

"It's the truth and you know it. I think I'll go pay Daddy a visit. I wonder what he would think if he knew I was here in Dallas. He never told anyone about me. He and Mama raised me in complete secrecy. I guess that makes sense now though, considering that he illegally BOUGHT me from you! No, I don't think the Dallas PD would look too kindly on that. But despite all, I love my father and my mother too. I love them very much."

"I am your mother, Kaitlin," said Patricia, feeling faint.

"The hell you are. Get out of my house. You never cared for me then and you don't care for me now!"

Patricia took her purse and left the old Victorian styled house. Kaitlin heard her drive away a few moments later.

Donna sat by her husband's bedside. He had not been out of his bed on his own for weeks. His nurse helped him bathe, and he was carried back and forth to the bathroom. He looked so peaceful sleeping there, but Donna knew the hell he was going through, the pain. She was staring out at their gardens when the phone rang, She raced to answer it as not to wake her husband.

"Hello."

"Donna, it's me Ray."

"Ray, it is so wonderful to hear your voice." Donna smiled.

"Donna it has been almost a week since you left.....I'm sorry to call, but I miss you."

"I miss you too Ray, I am so sorry about Jenna, and missing the funeral, are you ok?"

"I am fine Donna, As I told you, I think I made my peace with Jenna long before her death, our love left along time ago, I think it left on a mountain top somewhere."

"Ray it probably left long before that, Jenna was a tormented woman, she was working at destroying Bobby and Pam for years."

"I know, I keep wondering how I could have missed all the pain she was in, if only I had seen what was going on, maybe I could have spared Pam some of the misery she went through."

"Don't blame yourself Ray, you were a good husband."

"Speaking of husbands, how is yours?"

"He's fine Ray, sleeping soundly."

"Any chance you might get back to Dallas soon?"

"I'm sorry Ray, not right now, even though I would truly love to."

"I understand Donna."

"Ray..."

"Yes Donna."

"Please wait for me."

"I am a very patient man Donna, I will be here, I promise."

"Ray, I just had an idea, why don't you fly to Washington, I am sure I could find some time."

"Donna, I would love to see you, but I just can't see myself waiting around a hotel room, while you think up ways to sneak out of the house, it just isn't something I would be comfortable with."

"Ray, I understand, I respect you so much."

"And besides, I am needed here, Charlie is going through hell."

"I am sure she is, give her my love would you."

"I sure will."

"I am sending love your way to Ray."

A few feet away Senator Dowling closed his eyes again, he had been listening for a minute or so. He loved his Donna with all his heart, but now that heart was about to die. It was time to do one last thing for his wife. She had always been there for him, always, even if it was not exactly love. He had known for a long time, her heart belonged, and always would belong to Ray Krebbs, it was something he got used to.

"Goodbye Ray, take care."

"Goodbye Donna, I look forward to seeing you as soon as is possible."

Kendall greeted John Ross as he walked into the lobby of the Ewing Oil offices. Three women sat in the waiting area and Judy informed him that they were three choices that the agency sent over for him to choose his secretary from. He smiled at them, said he'd be with them in a few minutes, and entered his new office. John Ross sat his briefcase on the desk and checked his voicemail. Nothing. It would definitely take some time for the word to trickle down that he was now in the affairs of Ewing Oil. He called Judy and instructed her to show the first secretary in.

She was a beautiful redhead named Amber and John Ross could do nothing but smile and say "yes" as she counted off her qualifications. John Ross thanked her and the second choice walked in. This one was blonde and had the bluest eyes he had ever seen. Her qualifications weren't as impressive as Amber's, but her other qualities definitely made up for the lack in that department.

The final girl was a brunette by the name of Janice. She was plain and wore glasses, and her qualifications weren't all that spectacular, but for some reason John Ross wanted to give her a chance. Janice Kelly was his new secretary.

Charlie drove down the road on her way into Dallas. She thought about Lucas, and how he must be feeling. She pushed the gas pedal down farther and kept driving. She finally reached her destination. As she walked into The Ewing Oil offices, she noticed the plaque that read, "Ewing Oil, Founded by John (Jock) Ross Ewing Sr. J.R. Ewing President. She laughed, grinned and went up to J.R.'s secretary.

"Could you please tell Mr. Ewing that Charlie Wade is here to see him." Charlie stood next to the desk and waited while Judy clicked a button on the intercom system and told J.R. she was there.

"Mr. Ewing will see you, right this way please." Judy got up and showed Charlie into J.R.'s office. J.R. stood up and shook Charlie's hand. "Anything else sir?" Judy asked.

"No, that'll be all." Judy closed the door. J.R. lead Charlie to the sofa and sat done beside her. "What can I do for you?" J.R. asked while looking Charlie up and down, she had really grown up to be a very beautiful woman.

"J.R., I'm going to get right to the point. I believe Pam had something to do with my mothers suicide, and I need your help to give Pam what she has coming." Charlie looked at J.R. with a very stern look.

"What makes you think I will help you?"

"You hate Pam more than anyone."

"No Charlie, not anymore. Pam and I have made our peace." J.R. stood up to get a drink.

"What? But..." Charlie was cut off by J.R.

"Charlie, I wanted to see your mother with Bobby, but she was insane, who knows what else she's done...Just leave things alone."

"I'm going to get Pam one way or another." Charlie stood up and started to walk to the door.

"Charlie, why don't you go back to Paris, and forget about Pam."

"J.R., I'm going to avenge my mother's name, and if that means getting you in the process, I will. So don't think about getting in my way." With that Charlie stormed out of J.R.'s office and headed back down to her car.

Lucy was in the hallway, Mitch was nowhere to be seen, she was thankful for that, she had enough of him the other day. Afton came out of her room, her hand held by a familiar gentlemen. Lucy could not quite place him, but knew she had seen him before. Lucy walked up to the couple determined to get some answers.

"Afton, you are looking well."

"Lucy Ewing, you have some nerve showing your face here."

Roy Ralston stood back, planning on enjoying the show.

"Listen Afton, I am truly sorry about your loss, I really am, but you are the one who tried to corner me in the basement."

"I love how you rationalize you throwing me down the stairs as my own fault."

"Throwing you down the stairs! Afton you fell down those stairs and you know it, trying to keep hold of the flashlight."

"You can save it Lucy, One of my first stops is to the Dallas Police department to file a complaint against you. I think a little jail time might be just what you need."

"Jail time, that is laugh coming from you. You were lucky to not be in jail yourself after what you did to Cliff."

"Were is Cliff anyway, since he has not been in to see me, I assumed the two of you have been shacked up the last couple of weeks celebrating the loss of my baby."

"Afton, I have no idea where Cliff is, to tell you the truth, that is what I came to find out from you."

Afton smiled, "Well maybe my husband is smarter than I thought, he must have seen the error of his ways with you Lucy. He would have made a good father to my son."

"Even if it wasn't biological."

"What?"

"Never mind Afton, there will time for that later, I have got to find Cliff."

"Well you be off dopey, maybe the other dwarfs will help you with your search."

"Bitch!" Lucy looked up at Roy Ralston, "This may sound very horrible to you sir, but it is a lucky thing Afton lost that baby, given her level of hatred and cruelty, and the stunning job she has done with her daughter, that poor baby didn't stand a chance."

Afton was furious, she tried to reach out for Lucy's hair, but the young Ewing got out of the way, and quickly left the corridor.

"I hate her, I hate her, I hate her, I could just kill that witch!"

"Afton that's terrific."

"Terrific, what the hell are you talking about Roy?"

"It was fantastic, it is exactly what I want for your talk show, fighting, screaming, name calling, hair pulling, I knew I picked the right host."

Afton stood speechless staring at Roy Ralston, this man was an idiot.

Patricia Shepperd stepped out of her car and walked out onto the patio of Southfork where J.R. sat drinking a cup of his morning coffee. She wanted to warn him and Sue Ellen about Kaitlin and the lies that she might tell. Patricia knew that they weren't lies, but she had to protect herself.

"J.R., where is Sue Ellen?"

"Well Patricia, what a pleasure. Come sit down and have a cup of coffee," said J.R.

"No J.R., I don't have time for coffee. I need to speak with my daughter. Now where is she?"

"Off with that saddle tramp I suppose. You might try checking the ranch down the road if you want to find her."

"Dusty Farlow?"

"Yes, how many other saddle tramps is Sue Ellen involved with?"

"Thank you J.R."

"Patricia, before you go…"

"Yes?"

"What do you know about Kaitlin Ryan?"

"I…I'll tell you. She's a no-account gold digger who is trying to take advantage of my daughter Kristin and her resemblance to her," said Patricia.

With that, Patricia stormed off, got into her car, and sped away.

Charlie sat in her room at Southfork going through her mother's things. Charlie had one of the hired hands bring up every box of belongings that Jenna had and her room was full, but she was sure it would be worth it. Charlie Wade was right.

"Oh my I haven't seen this picture in years." Charlie said to herself. "Wait, what's this?"

Charlie picked up an envelope and opened it. She looked through the papers and pictures, her eyes grew as she shifted through everything. She couldn't believe what she was reading, but she knew it would help her. J.R. was right, there was no way of knowing what else Jenna had done, but now Charlie knew.

"Oh Pam, this should definately make you leave, leave Dallas, and leave Bobby." Charlie picked up the phone and dialed a number that she found. The phone rang and a voice answered.

"Hello?"

"Yes, does Jory Taylor still live there?" Charlie asked.

"This is Jory...Charlie is that you?"

"Oh, my, yes Jory, how are you?"

"I'm fine, how are you?"

"Jory, I need to talk to you, can I fly in and see you? Charlie asked.

"Sure, just say when." Jory replied.

"Great, I'll be there late tomorrow, you are still at the beach house, right?"

"Yep, still here, I'll see you tomorrow then." Both of the girls hung up and Charlie had a pleased look on her face. Everything was going perfectly.

"Pam you will pay, and then I know my mother will have been avenged." Charlie started to laugh to herself.

It took her awhile, but she finally got him in the back seat. He was asleep, her little vials of powder took care of that. She knew that Afton might be back today, and did not want to take any chances. She drove out of the garage and down the street, looking for a motel where she could hole up. She was not exactly sure what she was going to do. She had not intended to hold Cliff for so long, or at all. But when she arrived at the Halloween bash, and encounter the way he was acting, she knew she had to do something. Afton's tumble down the stairs pushed her into going further than she had originally planned. "What the hell was she going to do now?"

Lucy Ewing watched as the car left the driveway, she had been sitting in her own car across the street. The person behind the wheel was a woman, she knew that, but could not see the face clearly enough to determine who it was. For a second Lucy thought it might be the cleaning woman, but why would her car be in the garage, Lucy Ewing suddenly knew this woman held the key to where Cliff was, she put the car in gear and went after the grey Toyota that was speeding down the road.

John Ross had stumbled upon a very interesting deal that had come across his desk instead of J.R.'s. He flipped through some paper-clipped pages, reading about an oil field in Saudi Arabia that was up for auction. This was the chance of a lifetime for Ewing Oil and he would be able to use it to finally prove himself to his father, but it could be risky. What did he know about oil or Saudi Arabian fields for that matter. The oil man who owned the fields was no doubt Arabic. His name was Mumarik Akbar. Strangely enough, his office was in Dallas, not too far away from the Ewing Oil building. Perplexed, John Ross gave Melissa McSween a call.

Roy Ralston pulled his Mercedes into Afton Cooper's driveway about 15 minutes after the woman and Lucy Ewing drove away. He helped Afton out of the car and into the house.

"Wow!"

"Wow? This is your house isn't Afton?"

"Yes, but it did not look this clean the last time I was here. Someone did some cleaning.

"It must have been Pamela Rebecca. Maybe she was worried about her dear old mother after all."

"Afton, I know you have been through a lot, but can we begin to start discussing some details for the show, I am pretty excited to get started."

"I know Roy, I am as well, but, I need to get a few things in order first, can we meet in a few days."

"I suppose...Afton, what exactly do you need to get in order?"

"Well my daughter for one thing, she is due to have a baby soon, and I have not seen her in a couple of weeks, I have been vowing to get our relationship back on track for awhile now, and it is now time. And...."

"And?"

"And I think it is time to get a divorce from that loser husband of mine."

"I was under the impression, you thought it might be wise not to divorce Cliff for awhile."

"You are very observant Roy, aren't you?"

"I don't miss much."

"Well, I did think it might not look so good to divorce him so quickly after getting off that silly shooting thing, but I am now ready to have the dolt out of my life....for good."

"And Lucy Ewing too?"

"What?"

"Well, it just seems you might not be so eager to get Lucy Ewing out of your life."

"Well, you're right Roy, She has been a thorn in my side for awhile now, not only has she given me a lot of crap, she also put my brother through a living hell."

"Mitch?"

"Yup, they were married, a couple of times actually, but he has finally seen the light, they are getting divorced."

"Well, then why spend your energy on her?"

"Because she needs payback, and I am just the one to do it."

"Well, she did seem quite concerned about your husband."

"Yes...she did, and she doesn't know where he is...that's great."

"Well it is sort of funny he did not come into the hospital, especially since the baby you lost was his."

"Hmmm...yes."

"Afton, what does...hmmmm.yes mean?"

"Well, maybe you are not as observant as you think Roy, but there is a third thing I have to deal with, and that one, I think I will keep to myself."

Pam and Bobby walked outside onto the patio of Southfork. It was unseasonably warm, almost hot for this time of year, but neither of them seemed to mind. Pam leaned against the stable door as Bobby saddled up the horses. So many memories of her days at Southfork flashed back to her—the day she first came there, all of Lucy's antics, everything. She smiled as the warm breeze blew through her auburn hair. How glad she was to be back, finally, after all the years she was kept away. She frowned upon thinking that Jenna had been responsible all along. If she was capable of that, then what else might she have done that they didn't know about? Thank God, Katherine wasn't in the picture now at least. Pam had a wedding coming up. She and Bobby had planned it for New Year's Day. If the weather stayed so warm, then it would be a beautiful wedding, one that she had been hoping for for years. Bobby broke her thoughts by speaking.

"You know what? I bet that Lucas would like to ride with us," said Bobby.

At that moment, Lucas walked into the stable followed by Ray. "Hi Bob, I thought I'd take Lucas for a ride, I didn't know you two would be here," said Ray in a callous tone. He was clearly still upset over Jenna's suicide note and her wishes for Lucas.

"Oh, that's fine Ray," said Bobby, "Pam, why don't you take Lucas over to the next stable and show him that new colt that was born yesterday."

Pam, realizing that Bobby and Ray needed a moment alone, took Lucas' hand and led him out.

"Ray, look…"

"Bobby, I don't want to talk about it. Jenna was clearly out of her mind when she wrote that. For crying out loud, she committed suicide just seconds later!"

"Ray, I just wanted to tell you that Lucas may be my biological son, but you're the one that raised him. You're the one that he calls daddy. Not me. That's always going to hurt me, deep down, but I've lived with it for ten years and I can live with it now."

"Bobby, please. I just came to remind you that they're reading Jenna's will today. I had them postpone the reading, I didn't feel up to it."

"I understand Ray. I know how painful this has to be for you."

"I'm okay Bobby," said Ray, thinking about his night with Donna.

Meanwhile, Lucas gazed distantly at the new colt. "Aunt Pam, Charlie said it's all your fault that my mom is dead," he said, suddenly snapping out of his stare.

Pam was shocked and it took her a moment before she could reply. "Oh Lucas, that's not true. Charlie is confused. She's been through so much and so have you.

"But my mom might still be alive if you hadn't come back," said Lucas.

"Lucas…"

"It's true! I hate you. It's all your fault!" Lucas turned and ran from the stable, crying.

"Oh God, what have I done," said Pam, feeling tremendous guilt.

John Ross arrived at the office to find Melissa McSween already waiting for him. He entered his office and dropped the briefcase on the floor next to the desk.

"Good morning Mr. Ewing," said Melissa, following him into the office.

"Now now, drop the mister, please," said John Ross smiling.

"I did a little investigation into Mr. Akbar's dealings. He lived in Saudi Arabia up until 1993 when he moved to the United States to expand his company. He's now got three branches of it, two in Saudi Arabia and one in Dallas."

"Really? What's the company name?"

"Akbar Industries. He's got quit a successful company I might add."

"Yeah, I heard Dad mention it a few times. I did a little research myself last night over the Internet…constructive hacking is what I like to call it. He owns thousands of acres of oil rich land in Saudi Arabia. The particular one I'm interested isn't one of the best, but it produces at least ten times more than anything Ewing Oil currently has. I think it's well worth the price."

"Then go for it," said Melissa.

John Ross called Janice and instructed her to get in touch with Akbar and arrange a meeting time.

"John Ross, I want to apologize for my behavior at the Oil Baron's the other day. I shouldn't have done that."

"Hey, it's alright. Just don't do it again!" John Ross and Melissa shared a laugh together that soon turned into a kiss and might have turned into more, but Melissa announced she had other things to take care of and hastily left the room."

John Ross watched her go and remembered that he should call and check on Pamela Rebecca.

Lucy lost the car about 20 minutes after she started her pursuit. The driver was in a hurry, and Lucy could not keep up, and stay alive anyway, the woman drove like a maniac. Lucy headed back to Southfork intent on making a few more calls, she had to find Cliff and soon, her anger was turning back to worry.

Lucy drove up and parked in her regular space. Ray walked up to greet her when she got out of the car.

"Lucy!" Ray gave his niece a warm hug.

"Ray, I needed a hug, thanks, how are you doing, I have been meaning to spend more time with you the past while, but so much has happened, you would not believe."

"I would Lucy, a lot is going on with me as well."

"I want to hear all about it."

"Well, why not get back in that car and take me into Braddock. I need to talk, and you were always the only Ewing I could really talk to."

"Well, we do have history Ray." Lucy smiled, a smile only Ray would understand.

"We do, and you were involved in me getting together with Donna in the first place."

"Donna, this is about Donna?"

"Just drive Lucy, lets go to Braddock and find a bar, I think we both could use a drink."

"Sounds like a plan to me."

Bobby sat on the patio, drinking a glass of tea when a strange car pulled into the drive. A man of about fifty, wearing horn-rimmed glasses and a suit stepped out, walked up to Bobby, and introduced himself as Phillip Ryker.

"Can I help you?" asked Bobby after shaking his hand.

"Yes, I'm looking for Mr. Krebbs. I have some news about his wife."

"Ray is out on the ranch somewhere I think, I'm not sure where. What kind of news?"

"Are you a relative of Mrs. Krebbs?"

"Yes, I'm Ray's brother and Jenna was a close friend of mine. What's wrong?"

"I really should tell Mr. Krebbs first, but since you were close to her…"

"Please, have a seat," said Bobby. Judy brought out another glass of iced tea and handed it to Ryker.

"I was Jenna's psychiatrist prior to her death."

"Psychiatrist?"

"Yes. Jenna has been seeing me since early September. I've known something about her for quite a while and I feel like Mr. Krebbs should know."

"What is it?"

"Jenna was suffering from a rare mental disorder called delusional disorder, similar to paranoid schizophrenia but not as serious. She had been seeing Dr. Bates, who is a psychologist here in Dallas. Dr. Bates suspected something more serious that was wrong with her and referred her to me."

"Delusional disorder?"

"Yes. It's hard to explain. Basically, she thought things that weren't true and saw things that weren't there. She was delusional. Her case is similar to cases where people form religious cults because they believe they are the Messiah or they think that the world is going to end. I was going to Mr. Krebbs on November 1 to suggest that Jenna seek help and treatment at a sanitarium, but I was too late. I was devastated upon hearing of her suicide. I felt partially responsible for not getting her help sooner."

"Oh my God, it all makes sense now. The way Jenna blamed Pam. Her obsession with me and her loss of interest in Ray."

"She told me of Pam and her hatred for her during our sessions."

"Thank you Dr. Ryker. I'll tell Ray as soon as he returns," said Bobby.

"I'd appreciate that," said the doctor. "I'm really sorry about Jenna."

"We all are," said Bobby.

Jeremy Wendell sat in his office at Westar, going over West Star's annual financial and pumping reports. He had been away from the business for too long and needed to brush up on the happenings since J.R. and McKay had sent him to jail. As he continued to flip through the bound pages, a knock sounded at the door.

"Well, that's funny. Christine didn't even buzz me."

Perplexed, Wendell put the binders on his desk and walked to the door. Before he reached it, it opened. Kaitlin Ryan walked in.

"Katie?" he said in a disbelieving tone.

"Yes Daddy, it's me."

Jeremy took Kaitlin in his arms and hugged her. It had been so long since he had seen his daughter.

Pamela Rebecca drove down the street where her apartment was. It wasn't a bad neighborhood, only one or two killings a night. Nevertheless, it was all she could get right now. She had a plan to get John Ross back and this apartment was part of it. When John Ross saw that she was going to raise his baby in a dump like that, he would whisk her away to Southfork. Her knight in shining armor. She pulled up to her building and got out of her car. She had been shopping and decided to go back home early because of the pains she was having. Pamela Rebecca walked up the steps to her second floor, two-room apartment when she felt a strange feeling.

"Oh, no," she said as she drop her bags and grabbed her stomach.

"It's not time, not now." Pamela Rebecca made it into her apartment, and while she reached for her phone she felt another strong pain. Then she collapsed to the floor.

John Ross sat in his car outside of the apartment complex that Pamela lived in. "What a dump," he said. He got out of the car and made sure to lock his doors before entering the building.

John Ross got to the stairs and noticed a small puddle of blood and water. He looked up and noticed it splattered on the steps leading up to the second floor, right to Pamela Rebecca's door that stood wide open. John Ross ran frantically into the apartment and saw Pamela Rebecca lying in a heap on the floor.

"Oh my God," said John Ross, running to her side. "Pam, Pam it's me, John Ross."

Pamela didn't move. John Ross scanned the room for a phone and sprinted over to where it sat. He dialed 911 and the operator answered.

"Yes operator, my…my girlfriend has had an accident. Yes, she's unconscious. She's pregnant and the baby is due any day now. I think she's about to have it." John Ross gave the address to the operator and stayed on the line. He took the phone away from his face and turned to Pamela. "Don't worry Pamela Rebecca, everything is going to be just fine. You're going to have this baby…our baby, and we're going to be married and live on Southfork, together with our baby. Hold on Pam, just hold on."

Bobby, Ray, Pam, Charlie, and Lucas gathered in waiting for the reading of Jenna's will. Pam felt uncomfortable there with Charlie and Lucas. Lucas hated her and she was sure Charlie did as well, though she wasn't showing it. Scotty Demerest entered the room and shook hands before taking a seat at his large, mahogany desk. He turned on the green desk lamp and pushed his glasses up on his nose. "Mrs. Krebbs had this will updated just two weeks before her death." Scotty took the will in his hands and began to read:

By now you all know that I am gone and will not be returning. Bobby and Ray, you've both been so good to me in my life. If I couldn't have you Bobby, then I'm glad a great man like Ray was there for me. Ray, you have all the money you could ever need after selling the ranch to Carter McKay, so to you I leave with you the wish to be happy. We all deserve that. If it is Donna that you want, then I hope that you will pursue her. To Charlie and Lucas, I leave the sum of five million dollars. Please split it amongst yourselves and always remember me when you're both married and have families of your own. I love you both so much. Pam, I know you and I never got along and I also know that you will be here for the will, so I will have to leave you something. Enclosed with this will is the address of my father's house and the key to the front door. I hope that you will take it and get the hell off Southfork. You do not belong there anyway. Inside the house, you will find the second part of my gift to you. To my dearest Bobby, I have always loved you and I always will. Someday we will be together. For now, there is one thing I can give you, something you've always wanted. To you Bobby, I leave sole custody of our son, Lucas…"

Bobby turned and looked at Ray. The two brothers stared at one another, disbelieving what Jenna had done.

Cliff awakened in a strange environment, "Where the hell was he." He mind was beginning to clear...a bit. He had many dreams over the past few days, mostly about Lucy. But he also had horrible nightmares, about the woman, and what was going to happen. The woman was beginning to take form in his head. There were days she appeared like Katherine Wentworth, other days she looked like Jamie Ewing, his ex, and others she looked liked Mandy Winger. He still did not know for sure, he has too out of it most of the time, and she barely was in the same room with him, usually screaming something from another room. She sometimes reminded him of his Aunt Margaret, his secretary Jackie, and at other times even Pam. The most frightening version of his nightmare was that the woman was Afton. "Could it be Afton?" Cliff heard water running, a shower, the woman must be cleaning herself up. "Why had she moved him, what was she planning to do?"

The woman came out of the bathroom, wrapped only in a towel. Cliff was stirring on the bed a few feet away.

"How ya doin there Cliffy? Must be time for another injection, can't have you waking up and screaming you lungs out. Even though this place is as deserted as the Bates Motel, you never know who might hear ya."

"Please...no." Cliff could barely get the words out.

"Please all you want, but, it is coming anyway."

She walked to the dresser, and took out the needle, within a few seconds she was back at the bed.

Slowly Cliff opened his eyes, and for the first time looked directly into the eyes of the woman who had been his keeper for the past few weeks.

"My God....."

"Hello Cliff, finally recognize me do ya, well it was bound to happen sooner or later, now that you know who I am, we can get down to business!" Cliff flinched as the needled penetrated his skin, he had never been so alert for the needle before, and for the first time felt the pain, this woman was no nurse. And...It was not Katherine, or Jamie or Mandy or Aunt Margaret or Jackie or Pam.
